The free reading program at Yangon Book Plaza and WE Bookstore in Yangon has been canceled due to an increase in book thefts.

It is reported that people who steal books are impersonating real readers and stealing books.

“There are also CCTVs. There are more thefts during power outages. Those who want to steal also steal from the staff shop. Shop staff also do not always wait for the readers because they are afraid of disturbing them,” said an employee of Yangon book plaza.

There have been some missing books since before, but the program for readers has been continued without stopping, but now it is reported that it has been stopped because it has become too much.

One person who loves literature said, “Stealing books is too obvious. People who love books and literature don’t steal. If you can’t buy them, you can just sit and read them for free. Stealing is something you shouldn’t do. “He said.

The free reading program has been running for more than 2 years now.

Only the free reading plan has been canceled, and the bookstore is still open as usual from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day without any holidays.
